Study motivation tips for lazy days

We have all those days when we are sitting on books and the brain is saying, Not now. You can be lazy, tired, distracted or not in the mood to study. When that appeals to you, then you need not feel alone. Idleness is totally natural and even the most achievers have lazy days. The actual secret is not to wait till motivation will be, but to know how to produce one by simple and little steps.

It is one of the facts that every student has to keep in mind that motivation is the result rather than the beginning of a course of action. And you just say to yourself that you are going to study five minutes as opposed to waiting till you feel like studying. When you are studying, most of the times, once you are going, it gradually turns to study mode. The initial step is the most difficult and when this hurdle is overcome the rest is an easy task. The use of a timer of five to ten minutes may assist in eliminating the stress and making the start feel easy.

Large assignments tend to make people more lax since they are intimidating. You just look at a big syllabus or a whole chapter and your mind just seeks to shun it. Rather than imagining the completion of the entire chapter, look at it in small details like reading two pages, or answering five questions. These minor activities can be perceived to be doable and when done, you feel like you are moving ahead, and that you have confidence, which will naturally encourage you to do more of them.

In some cases, you are not lazy, but rather the surrounding causes you to be lazy. An untidy or boring work environment may rob you without you knowing it. You can clear your studying table, switch rooms, sit close to the window or increase light and your mind is instantly invigorated. The slightest shift in the environment frequently results in a significant shift in the attention.

The Pomodoro Technique can be rather useful on low-energy days. This technique entails learning half an hour and a five minutes relaxation. It helps to know that you will have a break soon, and will make the process of studying less tiresome and more manageable. It is also preferable to stretch or have a glass of water or close your eyes rather than scroll and scroll on your phone endlessly during breaks, as it becomes more difficult to get back to studying.

One may begin with hard things on non-productive days, and it can be even worse. Rather, start small or with what one knows. You may rewrite an old matter or read on a subject that is of interest to you or you can watch a brief educational video. This assists your brain to open up and gain confidence as it becomes easy to proceed to harder issues later on.

The other factor that contributes to more laziness is distractions. Whether it is turning your phone to silent or airplane mode, concentration can be significantly enhanced by simple things like notifying the members of your family that you are studying, or by using special apps like Forest or Focus To-Do. Distractions can be cut by half, and focus can be improved even to some extent.

Another great motivator is rewarding oneself after studying, which helps in maintaining their motivation. Your brain reacts well to rewards even minor. An episode, a cup of tea or coffee, ten minutes on social media can serve as a motivational tool and this should not precede studying but follow it. This eventually creates a healthy and positive study habit.

It is also useful on lazy days when you need to be reminded of the reason why you began studying in the first place. Reflecting on your purpose, goals, and future may help you get back to your purpose. A question of how the task today will make your future is surprisingly encouraging. A constant reminder can be writing down what you want to achieve on paper and placing them close to your study table.

Above all, do not be too critical of yourself. Being lazy does not imply being lazy. Sometimes we all have slow days and that is only human. Rather than putting yourself down, realize that you are making an attempt. Even twenty minutes of study is not a waste. You can be proud that you came out at the end of the day. Even the slightest of efforts regularly made result in huge success in the long run. Then there will be lazy days, but in little things, little plans and a good nature attitude, they need not have you.
