4-Month Study Plan to Clear the CAPF Assistant Commandant Exam

It is not an easy task to prepare the Assistant Commandant exam of the U.P.S.C. CAPF within only 4 months, yet, with a strict plan of study and a smart revision, it is quite doable. A lot of applicants pass through the exam after a brief but intensive study period.

To begin with, you need to know the exam format. Two papers make the CAPF AC written exam:

Paper 1:General Ability and Intelligences (Objective -250)

Paper 2: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (Descriptive-200marks)

When the written exam is passed, the candidates have to pass the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and interview.

An example of 4-month strategies is provided below.

1. Month 1: Build the Foundation

During the initial month, deal with familiarity with the syllabus and learn the fundamentals.

Shopping: The major themes to be covered in paper 1 are:

  •  History (modern India, in particular).
  • Geography
  •  Indian Polity
  • Economy
  •  General Science
  • Current Affairs

One can begin with NCERT material first. The aim of this stage is to create conceptual clarity, and not the memorization of facts.

Daily study plan examples:

  •  3 hours: Stagnant subjects (history/polity/geography)
  •  1 hour: Current affairs
  • 1 hour: Reasoning and quantitative aptitude.
  •  1 hour: Revision

Durability is greater than extended time at work.

2. Month 2: Use and Improve Weak Areas.

The second month is supposed to be practice and problem solving.

What you should do:

  •  Solve 50–60 MCQs daily for Paper 1.
  •  Practice essay writing Paper 2.
  • Solved past year CAPF exams to gain experience of exam.

Questions in the previous years are very crucial since they make you know the commonly asked questions and enhance accuracy.

3. Month 3: Writing of Answers and Mock Tests.

This stage has to deal with the transfer of knowledge to examination performance.

Focus on:

Full body mock tests per week.

Writing 2 essays per week

Comprehension and precision Drafting.

Grammar and vocabulary improvement.

Candidates do not pay much attention to Paper 2; however, well-developed writing skills may contribute greatly to your total score.

4. Month 4: Exam Proctored/Simulated Exam

The last month is to be devoted to revision and strategy of exams.

Important tasks:

  • Re-write all the subjects at least two times.
  • Make full mock tests after 3-4 days.
  • Learn the lessons of errors and correction of the weak points.
  • Update existing affairs of the past 12 months.
  • Do not keep on learning new things within weeks.

5. Physical Fitness: Do Not Overlook.

Successful interns are required to pass the written examination and the Physical Efficiency Test.

Typical standards include:

  • 100 m race
  • 800 m race
  • Long jump
  • Shot put

Begin running and stamina training 4-5 days/week during your preparation to make sure you are ready to the physical stage.

6. How a CAPF Aspirant spends his/her day.

An example of a daily routine is a balanced one which may look as follows:

Morning

Physical exercise or running (30 -40 minutes)

Afternoon

Study static subjects (3–4 hours)

Evening

 mcq practice + current affairs.

Night:

Revision and answer writing

The study of "68 hours daily" is typically adequate provided one is regular.

Final Advice:

The process of cracking CAPF in 4 months does not consist of reading numerous books. It is concerning clarity, revision and practice.

Remember these three rules:

1. Solve previous year papers.

2. Writes practice answers on a regular basis.

3. Revise multiple times.

Four months can be sufficient with discipline and with the right approach to clear the written stage and get a step closer to the position of an "Assistant Commandant"
