I Failed My Re-Exams in Class 11 (PCB) and Feel Embarrassed — What Should I Do?”

Re-examination is a very humiliating experience, and unsuccessful. This moment occurs at least once in many students of  Class 11 and particularly those who study PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). The fact that the load of the subjects, family demands, and being compared to peers of the same age make the situation even more awful.

But here lies the fact: "this is indeed much more widespread than you believe".

 1. To begin with, Learn to Accept the Facts that the End is Not the Start:

Class 11 is said to be one of the most challenging academic years at school. The distance between Class 10 and the PCB stream is enormous. Topics are more abstract and there are a lot of students who do not cope at the beginning.

Not passing a re-exam does not indicate that you cannot or are stupid. It only implies that you should improve your study process, time to prepare, or learning requirements.

That your school has provided you with a second opportunity is in fact, a good omen. They are sure that you may still achieve.

2. It is Not Uncommon to be Embarrassed:

Virtually every student failing in an exam is embarrassed or fearful of the opinion of others. You may worry about:

  •  Friends judging you
  • Years teachers disappoint.
  •  Parents feeling upset
  •  Comparing with peers in the classroom.

But bear in mind a point, when people think about your failure, they do so much less than you suppose. Majority of the students are preoccupied with their own grades.

When you begin concentrating on the better, your embarrassment will end.

3. Change Your Study Strategy:

A large number of students neither succeed nor fail in their studies, but due to a poor study strategy. The PCB treated subjects demand another strategy.

Try these methods:

For Physics:

Learn to understand and not memorize formulas.

Solve numerical problems on a daily basis.

For Chemistry:

Separate it as follows: Physical, Organic and Inorganic.

During the study process, take little notes.

For Biology:

Use active recall, flow-charts and diagrams.

Revise NCERT line by line.

Concentrated study of about 2 to 3 hours per day is much better than long and sporadic study.

4. Ask for Help:

Most learners are afraid to pose questions due to embarrassment. It is in fact an indication of seriousness to seek some assistance.

You can:

  • Have your teachers repeat complicated points.
  • Study together with a friend who will comprehend the subject.
  • View learning videos to troublesome chapters.

  • doubts should be cleared up early so as to avoid larger issues in future.

5. Dwelling on Improvement, Not Competition:

Comparison to toppers will not help reduce stress.

Instead, ask yourself:

  •  Have I learned more to-day than to- yesterday?
  • Have I done more questions to-day?

  • A little improvement in a day will give huge outcomes in the long run.

6. Your Future Is Still Safe:

  • The failure of even a single exam in Class 11 does not determine your future.
  •  There are numerous successful doctors, scientists, and professionals, who did not succeed in school.
  • It is really your reaction after failure that counts.
  • Learners that learn through adversity tend to be better learners.

 7. Transform This Opportunity into a Comeback:

Your school has given you a second chance and this is how you can show yourself that you can make it.

Create a simple plan:

  • Study daily
  • Revise weekly
  • Practice past papers
  • Ask doubts immediately

Provided that you remain consistent within the following few months, you would regain your confidence and be able to perform significantly better.

Final Thought:

A re-exam failure can hurt nowadays, but it has no permanence in determining who you are and what you can accomplish. Class 11 in most cases has been a blow to many students particularly in the PCB stream.

It is not about failure though, but about continuing to make an attempt.

This may be the moment when you turn and become stronger, disciplined and focused on what you want.
